Obituary

On August 24, 2012, a celebration in Heaven took place as Paul Clarence Mayes Jr., of Spring, Texas entered into the Kingdom. He was born in Houston, Texas on January 22, 1933 to Paul C. (Buster) and Maidee Mayes.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents as well as his sister Doris (Dot) Crowder. He is survived by his bride of 56 years, Barbara Johnson Mayes, his children Paul C. Mayes III, of Austin, Texas, Laurie Womack and husband Steve, of Austin Texas and Lisa Joyner, of Houston, Texas as well as his beloved grandchildren, Whitney Cervenka Fronda and husband Matt, of Dallas, Texas, Michael Cervenka of San Marcos, Texas, Jeremy, Paige and Wesley Joyner, of Houston, Texas and Dallas Womack, of Austin. Paul is also survived by his sisters, Mickey Morgan, of Tomball, Texas and Jo Anne Miller and husband Jack, of Fayetteville, Arkansas and many loved nieces and nephews.

Paul served in the US Marine Corps in Korea and later worked in the oil industry as a geologist. He was a member of Harvest Christian Fellowship. Throughout his life, Paul showed his love of the Lord by his ministry and caring for others. He never met a stranger. Paul loved people and in return was equally loved. It was well known that he cried when he was happy even more then when he was sad.

A memorial service will be held at Addison Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at 2:00 pm. A reception will follow at the home of Mickey Morgan, 15315 Hunters Bend, Tomball.
